Common Garage Door Repairs We Handle in Oklahoma City
Our technicians repair residential and commercial garage doors, and every repair visit starts with a full system inspection. Below are the common problems we fix.
- Broken springs. A snapped torsion or extension spring leaves the door too heavy to lift, often after a loud bang from the garage. If the break leaves your door stuck open and the house unsecured, call our emergency garage door repair team.
- Frayed or snapped cables. A broken lift cable, or one that slips off its drum, leaves the door hanging crooked. The repair is a new cable and a rebalanced door, so both sides lift evenly.
- Off-track doors. Bent track, worn rollers, and loose hinges let a door ride out of its channel. Stop using the door until the track is realigned and the damaged parts are replaced.
- Opener and sensor faults. Misaligned safety sensors, damaged wiring, and worn opener parts keep a door from closing. We fix the fault and talk through replacement if a new unit makes more sense.
- Worn weather seals. A cracked or flattened bottom seal lets rain, dust, and pests in under the door. Weather seals are among the parts we replace.
Before you call, check the manual lock. A door that will not lift at all may simply have it engaged. One customer with a flight to catch called us about exactly that, and our technician spotted the lock and charged nothing for the visit.
What Red Clay and Storm Season Do to a Garage Door
Much of central Oklahoma sits on expansive red clay that swells after heavy rain and shrinks in long, dry spells. As the soil moves, a garage slab can rise and settle, and a door that once sealed tight may leave a gap at one corner or drag near the floor. Realigning the track and fitting the bottom seal to the floor at its current level addresses the gap. Turning up the opener force does not.
Oklahoma City is also one of the most tornado-prone major cities in the world, and its spring storms bring high winds and hail. Wind pressing on a closed door can bend track and push rollers out of place, and large hail can dent steel sections. When storm damage reaches the sections, we lay out repair and replacement options. If a new door is the better choice, we can patch the old one to hold until we install the replacement.
The same storms can leave tens of thousands of people without power at once. Automatic openers have an emergency release so you can lift the door by hand, and it pays to know where yours is before an outage. If staying powered matters to you, ask about battery backup when choosing from our garage door openers in Oklahoma City.

Family-Owned Since 1983
Jesse and Tina Trotter founded the company in 1983 in a 400 sq. ft. space at Bryant Square. Jesse brought extensive experience in the garage door industry, with Tina supporting the business from the start. Today we operate from a 15,000 sq. ft. showroom, office, and warehouse, still family-owned and still run on the values the company was founded on.
Customers tend to name the people who showed up. Reviews mention Wacey, Ben, and Craig on installs, Charles on diagnosis, and Sam on pricing, and they keep returning to the same points: punctual crews, clear explanations, and a clean garage when the job is done.

Garage Door Repair FAQs
Is it safe to open my garage door with a broken spring?
No. Springs carry the weight of the door, and without them, the opener and remaining hardware take a load they aren't built for, which can damage the opener or cause the door to drop. Keep the door closed, keep people and cars clear, and call us. We repair springs on nearly every type of door, including older and custom models.
How long does a garage door repair take?
We complete most repairs in a single visit, and our technicians carry the parts needed to finish the job on that visit whenever possible. Replacing the whole door takes longer because you must choose and order the new door before installation.
Is it safe to use my garage door after a storm?
Check it before you run the opener. Look for bent track, rollers sitting outside the track, a door hanging crooked, or a panel pushed in by wind. If you see any of these, or the door grinds or stalls, leave it where it is and call us, because running a damaged door can bend the track further.
How do I open my garage door when the power is out?
Pull the emergency release cord, usually a red handle hanging from the opener rail, to disconnect the door from the opener, then lift the door by hand. A balanced door should lift with moderate effort. If it feels far heavier than usual, a spring may be broken, so leave it closed and call us.
How often should garage door springs be inspected?
Once a year. A yearly check confirms the springs are safe and the door is balanced, which heads off surprise breakdowns and extends the life of the whole system. Catching a worn spring early lets you replace it on a planned visit instead of dealing with a door that will not open.
Do you repair commercial garage doors?
Yes. We repair and install commercial overhead doors and commercial door openers. Call us with the type of door and the problem you are seeing, and we will schedule an inspection.
